Emeryville, Calif., May 17, 2011 Sendmail, Inc.,
the leading provider of message processing appliances and applications for enterprise messaging infrastructures, and the Sendmail Consortium, today announced the availability of the latest version of the popular sendmail open source MTA (Mail Transport Agent). This new version addresses many of the requests that have been reported by the large community of sendmail open source users and developers around the world.
“The sendmail open source MTA is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and is still amongst the most widely used mail servers in the world,” said Greg Shapiro, vice president, Engineering with Sendmail. “The fact that Sendmail has remained the core technology for Internet email for such a long period of time is a testament to its powerful architecture and stability. We couldn’t do it without the support of the Sendmail community across the globe, and we thank them for their continued contributions to the sendmail open source project.”
The sendmail open source MTA is a core component of Sendmail, Inc’s award winning Sentrion Message Processing platform. The Sentrion platform integrates Sendmail open source with an intelligent policy engine, connection controls, LDAP directory, quarantine, and enterprise reporting based on the Splunk reporting engine. Sentrion Message Processors are available in multiple formats including hard appliances, virtual appliances, and blade servers and are managed through an intuitive graphical user interface and have the ability to run the myriad of applications available in the Sentrion App Store.
“We are seeing more and more open source users turn to the Sentrion platform due to its flexible architecture, enterprise level management capabilities, and the sheer number of available add-on applications that can easily be configured any time as business requirements change,” Shapiro went on to say.
